Summary
This splendid castle is one of the oldest, most beautiful, and well maintained structures of the whole area. The Castle was built around the beginning of the year 1000 and was originally a warning tower and military garrison. Palazzo di Todi offers views of 360 degrees, overlooking the rolling hills of the Umbrian countryside in front of Todi (3 km) and the Tiber river and its valley. At the view of its strong but harmonic structure one is immediately captivated. In the Castle of Todi once lived the major captain of the Renaissance, Bartolomeo d'Alviano, born in 1455 in the homonym fortress which lies just a few kilometers from Todi.
The castle has two main entrances, one on the ground floor, that is accessible from the inner courtyard, and the second from the first floor that you can reach by stairs that leads onto a wooden balcony. The castle has five floors (basement to third floor) in total.
