Blu di Mare
The Adriatic is the middle stripe in a view that includes the sky, the green of the olive grove and the dark blue of the pool at this gentle yet coolly minimalist villa, where guests will quickly relax into its many charms.
Villa Blu di Mare is a contemporary renovation of a traditional lamia with a large courtyard, beautiful terrace and stunning pool. Located in a rare hillside position amongst the olive groves, the property celebrates both the traditional and the modern, with a sublime view of the Adriatic Sea.
Elegant lines, white walls that reflect the sunlight and a dark blue pool that mirrors the clouds, on the rare occasion that there are any, create a tantalising exterior, with sleek white steps leading to the roof terrace and the lower terrace. Inside, the villa offers a cool refuge from the Puglian sun with old, stone walls left bare, newer walls in white and a careful curation of furniture from brands such as Gervasoni and Royal Botania.
Eight guests are comfortably accommodated in four doubles all of which have the refreshing addition of an outdoor shower on a private terrace. The villa’s design capitalises on the mesmerising view, offering guests a dining table under the loggia and a sitting ‘room’ open on two sides on the terrace.
The easy-going vibe of the villa is enough to keep guests happily lounging all day. For those who have the energy to do more than dip in the pool and laze over al fresco lunches and dinners, there are bikes to borrow. The property is moments away from the coast and its pretty rocky coves, the Baroque splendour of Ostuni and Lecce, and the wealth of other towns and villages that are dotted over this captivating part of Italy’s heel.
